"Looking Sharp"!

I made this Cactus card using Sizzix Looking Sharp Fold Along dies.  I tied the card closed int he photo above because it doesn't close too well otherwise.  Below is a photo of the card without the ribbon.
And here below is the inside of the card!  Lot's of fun to make, and the card can be embellished however you like.  I added some tiny gems to the sunglasses to give it some "bling".  I mean, Cactus pants need "bling", right?!
Below is a close up of the inside of the card.  You can write a message on the back of the card if you like. I fond the die set at "Spotlight" and it was on sale for $16, which I thought was a good price.  The card will fit into a normal size envelope when closed.

French Cats

Here's the card I made this morning.  The black cats are a Marianne Designs die set called French Cats.  I cut a circle in the silver card and layered it on to a piece of yellow card.
I glued a strip of yellow card under the cats and then glued a white flower on either side of the yellow card.  I added the "I 💜YOU" to the strip of yellow card.  I layered the silver card onto a folded black card, and lastly added strips of yellow card to frame the card, and punched out some tiny daisies to add to the yellow frame.  It sounds like a lot when you are writing it, but it really wasn't difficult IRL!  Here's a close up of the daisies etc, below.

Saturdays Cards

The card above is a small 3 1/4 x 3 1/4 inch note card.  I used my stitched squares dies to cut the white card.  I added a small piece of SU DSP along the bottom of the card.  Stamped and cut out the flowers (Crafters Companion) and stuck that to the middle of the card using double sided sponge tape.  I stamped the words, also Crafters Companion, then stuck the white card to the folded black card.  I stuck some tiny clear gems in the center of each flower, and some tiny drops of Nuvo Crystal Drops in Sweet Lilac to the buds on the flowers.
The horses on the card above are from Lavinia Stamps.  First of all I used some brushes to make the circle. I used two SU ink pads to get the colours I wanted. Turquoise and green.  Then I stamped the hills and then the horses.  I layered the white card to a turquoise card and then onto a folded white card.

Fairies

I used two fairy stamps from "Lavinia Stamps" for this card.  First of all I cut a circle out of a piece of scrap card so I could make the moon.  I put the circle mask over my card and used my shaving brushes to colour the circle.  I used Lovely Lilac, and Orchid Opulence both old SU stamp pads.  Then I used "Sunshine Yellow" from "Adirondak" over the part of the circle.  To stamp the fairies I used my Stamp Perfect tool and stamped the fairies in Graphite Black, a pigment ink from Brilliance.  I stamped the fairies three times so I got a good coverage of black ink.  I LOVE my Stamp Perfect and am using it more and more:-)  I love how you can just keep re-inking your stamp so you get a good depth of colour, and fill in any "white" or "patchy" bits that didn't quite get inked enough. SO much easier than stamping without the SP!
I layered the white card on to hot pink, then purple card and finally on to white card.  And the best part??  The card was EASY to do!!
Thanks for dropping by, have a SUNSHINE day:-)  Looks like I the only "Sunshine" in my life today will be me, as it is pouring with heavy rain right now and looks like it will stay around all day:-(  We had a huge thunderstorm much earlier this morning around 4 am, so I think the only thing to do today is stay inside and....stamp stamp stamp!

Truck Crash

While talking to a friend on the phone yesterday afternoon, I saw a truck driving past my place.  The next thing I see the truck fish-tail and swerve sharply.  Then I hear  a very loud crash and I see a truck and a large tree in front garden coming towards the house where I was sitting!  I grabbed my camera and rushed outside.  I was first on the scene and all I could see was to guys slumped forward in their seats, not moving. I panicked and thought they were dead!  After making sure they were ok and had no injuries I took these photos.
They had hired this truck to move some stuff, but the truck empty at the time of the crash.  These "Hireace" trucks are notoriously hard to control when they are empty.  They sway a lot and are not easy to control.
Thank heavens my large Palm tree was whee it was, because if it hadn't been there to stop the truck, the truck would have gone into the front of the house right where I was sitting!
The driver of the truck was quite shaken and upset as he had just hired the truck earlier that day.  He wasn't speeding, so it wasn't speed that caused the crash.
My poor fence and big tree have taken a bit of a battering, but I have the guys name and his insurance will pay to fix the fence and the tree.  I love that tree, it gives lot's of shade in summer and shelter for the birds.  I  hope it can be saved.
Poor tree, it's on quite a lean now!  I just hope with all the rain we have had in the last few days, that the roots don't get waterlogged and uproot the tree.
Three of us, including me witnessed it and we all said that the driver was not speeding at the time of the crash.
I know I love car crash photography, but my main concern was someone may have been injured.  When you see two guys slumped forward and not moving after a crash, you think the worst.  I must have asked them 50 times if they wee sure they were ok!
Both my cats were inside at the time, "Romeo" was on the top if his climbing tree, which is about 6 feet tall.  He jumped off where he was sitting and went so quickly he took the mat he was sitting on with him!  "Bella" bolted and hid under the bed for two hours!
As I said, I was talking to a friend on the phone at the time, and when I saw the crash, I told her I had to go and would call her back..  I threw the phone down on the table without hanging it up!  After the crash I came back inside and hung the phone up properly, it had been off the hook for about half an hour!  I called my friend back and she said she had heard the crash through the phone and thought one of my cats had tipped the table over!  When I told her it was a truck coming though my front fence she was in shock!
So I had a 'busy' afternoon...but not making cards!  I have been out this morning and tied the fence up as best I can to stop dogs wandering in.  It's now a bit safer for "Bella" to be outside.  I have cut some branches off a tree and put them in the gaps where the fence has some missing palings.  I just have to wait for the insurance company to come and fix it, heaven knows how long that will be.

Thursdays Cards!

The card above was inspired by Connie from Simply Simple Stamping.  She had made a card like this, with a bookmark added to the front of the card.  Such an easy way to add a small gift to a card!  Click on her name and it will take you right to her blog!  I check her blog often a there is always something fun to make - thank you Connie!  The placement of the double sided tape under the oval keeps the bookmark from sliding out the bottom.  And I used scraps of card and DSP I had laying on my desk.  The words are from an old SU stamp set I have had for a long time.
The cat card below is for some friends of mine who very kindly came and fed my two fur babies while I was in hospital last year.  Yes, I know, I am very late at getting it done! The problem was, I wasn't very well for some time after the surgery and this stopped me doing any kind of craft work.  The little mouse is from another 'old' SU stamp set!  The "Thank You" stamp is from "Hooks, Lines and Inkers" who are not around anymore, or maybe they have changed their name?  I'm not sure.  I know they used to be "DJ Inkers" when I first discovered them.
I've been a bit slow this week, I had the flu injection on Monday and ended up with a very painful arm afterwards, and could barely move my arm it was so sore:-(  On top of that it's Hay Fever/Allergy season and my sinuses have been blocked for weeks:-(  I am feeling better today, but all it takes is for a neighbour to mow their lawns and I will be off sneezing again - not fun!  I seem to have Hay Fever/Allergies all year round, but worse at the change of Seasons.  Oh well, Summer is coming round again in a few months so it will settle down a bit then!
Thanks for dropping by, have a SUNSHINE day!  {HUGS} (allergy free!) from me to YOU:-)

Makes You Think!

I saw something similar to this on Pinterest and decided to write my own version.  The first one, "Things You Can Control", came easily to mind, but the second one, "Things I Can't Control" was a lot harder and had me thinking a lot harder!  But they were both fun to do, both the words an the doodling.
I had the perfect cards to write them on...these ones below!  These are some that Lorraine M gave me awhile ago - thank you Lorraine!  They are the perfect size (5x8") and I used the white side of the cards.  I found it very relaxing and absorbing creating these cards.   Lot's of fun!
And an update on the new cat bed..."Bella" is the one who has been sleeping in it mostly, although "Romeo" did spend the first night in it.  He is SO funny getting in the bed, he is a big boy and just about has to turn himself inside out to get in!

"The New Bed"

While I was out today I went into the local Hospice Shop.  I swore I would never go back in there again after I was served by a lady with a really bad attitude.  But!  I decided that I was not going to let her dictate whether or not I shop there.  So in I went, and I found THIS!  A gorjuss soft and plush cat bed for $5.  It's brand new and is just so soft and warm.  Well, Romeo was the first to try it...
and here he is half in and half out!  I know he can fit, but for some reason he wasn't going any further in than this!
The he tried again...and still his bum was too big!  Bella had a look at it and decided it wasn't for her and run off outside!  Huh!  Some gratitude wouldn't go amiss here!!  It's probably too hot at the moment for them to want to sleep in it, but wait til Winter and they will BOTH want to get in it!

"Happy"

Here's another word card I made.  I die cut "Peace, Hope, Love and Joy" and mixed up the letters to get "Happy"!  Andrea suggested "Hello" too, so that's another one I can make! Please check out her blog here. Thank you Andrea💜 The blue paper I used on this card has a glitter like feel and look to it.  The flowers are die cut from a Stampin' Up! die set.
.
Another little treat bag I made, using Stampin' Up! Foxy Friends stamp and die set.  The strip behind the fox is actually cork.  I bought a roll of it from my local $2 Shop.  Thanks for dropping by, have a SUNSHINE day!  {HUGS} from me to YOU:-) 💜

"Peace, Love, Hope and Joy."

I have finished all the PLHJ cards and I made bookmarks to go in with each card.  Above is a photo of all the cards with their bookmarks.  I am happy how they have turned out, in spite of wanting to "curl" the flowers and not being able to!  I call it being flexible!  If you click on the photo (or any photo on my blog) it will enlarge the photo so you can see it better.

"Joy"

Here's another card I made using some of the word dies.  I glued the letters on to some pre-cut pink squares of light card/paper.  And my thanks goes to Lorraine M for gently reminding me that maybe using tweezers to hold the tiny letters when I glue them would stop the glue getting all over ME and not the letters - it works perfectly!! Thank you Lorraine!  I have those reverse tweezers which I find easy to use.

There Is Always "Hope".

I'm back today with another clean and simple card.  This one say's "HOPE".  I have a set of 4 vertical word dies.  "Love, Peace, Hope and Joy".  When I bought them I thought the letters were all attached to each other, so they would be vertical on my cards.  However when I cut them out, each letter is separate.  Placing them on the cards is a challenge as the letters are very skinny and the glue tends to stick to my fingers as well as the letters!
Because I had die cut several of these flowers (Stampin' Up!) I decided to make a series of these cards.  Watch for more!

"LOVE"

I "love" 💜 how this card turned out:-)  I struggled with it all day because I really wanted to 'curl' the flowers, but the card I had used for the flowers is very hard and didn't 'curl' well at all.  So I left the card, the flowers, the word and gold leaves sitting on my desk all day.  (Big mistake, because someone rolled on top of everything and had flowers and scrambled gold letters stuck on his fur!) Anyway, late this afternoon I finally got it into my head that in spite of wanting to 'curl' the flowers, it wasn't going to happen!  So I got on with it and left the flowers 'flat'.  And I "love" 💜 it!  It's a very 'clean and simple' card for me, which I really like, but I struggle with that sort because I am a "bling" girl and want to add 'sparkle and glitz'  to everything!  But I didn't, I just left it as it is. The photo below is taken on an angle because I wanted to highlight the gold card.
And here is my "supervisor", asleep on my desk with his head resting on the bar stool beside the desk! This was before he rolled on everything and scrambled my gold letters! There's nothing like spreading yourself out - all over my desk!
And here he is again, this time sitting on the bar stool with his paw on the window ledge! You gotta be comfortable!
