They're Here...!!

 

My Boo Mobile die set arrived this morning, 3 days ahead of the original ETA which was Monday 24th!! i was super excited to check them out and I wanted to play with them right away, however I needed to go to the supermarket:-(  By the time I got home I was in a lot of pain so I haven't tried the dies out yet, but will do tomorrow. The Mobile measure about 3 inches in height, and just a smidgen over 3 1/2 inches in width. I think there's 27 dies ranging from pumpkins, skulls, an eye, a pair of Bat wings a ghost and a pair of witches legs! This is just a quick note and I will be back tomorrow, fingers crossed! The Three Sisters!

I made this some years ago, out of a pair of pantyhose. I used hot 

glue to stick the hair and eyes on. I hot glued it to a silver hair clip so I can tie my hair up. I call them The Three Sisters! I added a bit of old lace under the faces, as well as a tiny bow in each lady's hair. These were fun to make and quick and easy!

 I had an email today saying my Boo Mobile die set is on it's way, and the ETA is Monday 24th. As well as that Lavinia Stamps will be releasing a new range of Halloween stamps in 2 days on the 20th. Think Witches, tombstones and oh-so-cute scarecrows! I've seen some samples Tracey has done and I love them all! Yes, I will be ordering them! there's also some sentiments to go with the Witches and Scarecrows. So lots of crafty goodness coming = no time for boring stuff like housework! I apologise about the different size fonts. I am still figuring out my Chromebook. Every so often (too often!) I hit a button and weird things happen. I will get it right one of these days! Bear with me!

A UFO Pumpkin?! UPDATED!

 

Another UPDATE!! Some exciting (for me!) news...I have managed to find the set of dies and have just ordered them! I'm super excited because I really love this set of dies, and know I will have lot's of fun playing with them! They weren't cheap because whatever the cost is in US$, I pay twice that much because of the difference in dollar value in NZ currency.

I have to give  big thank you to Spellbinders, they answered my email about purchasing that die set in super quick time. They couldn't help with finding the set, but I found them myself. When I get the dies and have made something with them, I will post it here. I hope to have the die set some time next week, fingers crossed!

 

I have just discovered this is the Spellbinders August Kit. I am not sure if it was from this year or last year.

 I love it and would really like to buy the die set! If you have one you are willing to sell, PLEASE contact me with the details! I have also contacted with Spellbinders, so fingers crossed! 

 Sorry the photo is blurry, I took it off you tube. There's a lovely lady who did a video on creating clouds, and the pic above is what was on her card. She had all the details of what she created the clouds with, but not this UFO Pumpkin. I've left her a message asking if It's a die or die cut and asked where to buy

 them from. The video is called "How to ink blend a night sky." I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can purchase this UFO Pumpkin (as I call it!) The lady who did the video is called Suzanne I think. I think its a very cute UFO!

A Little Bit of Gold!

Above is a set of foil dies from Spellbinders, which have a set of matching dies. I foiled these in red.

I was recently given a Spellbinders Glimmer Foil Machine. The gold circle was the first thing I foiled. I've had a lot of things going on recently and haven't had much time to create anything. I also had a bad fall and cut  my knee open. That was over 2 weeks ago and It's still oozing blood which means I have to clean it and re-dress it each day. It will heal, but it's going to take a few more weeks. 

This is a set of foiling dies I found on a craft site. I have only just got them and have yet to use them.  It's a miracle I actually received them...

The lady I purchased them from posted them to me over 2 weeks ago. When they didn't arrive I checked the tracking number only to read that they had (supposedly) been delivered to me 6 days ago! I checked my  mail box but they were not there. I'm keeping this short because it's a long story. I went to the NZ Post Depot and asked them. I showed them the photo of the parcel that had been sent to me by the seller. They checked the tracking number and said it had been delivered, but not to me, but to someone else. Someone had put a label on the parcel with a different address on and if had gone to them. She said to call Custom Service. I did this when I got home. Well! I tried to explain the situation and what I had been told, and how NZ Post had shown me a photo of MY parcel with a label on it addressed and delivered to a different address. I was then verbally abused by CS and told in no uncertain terms that NO-ONE at NZ Post would do that, and that I was not telling the truth!

I ended up writing a note and putting in the mail box of the person it had gone to. I left my phone number, and a addressed and briefly said what had happened. The next day I got a call from the lady, and she returned my parcel.

It was interesting because SOMEONE (NZ Post??) had cut the tracking number off the original parcel and stuck it to a different post bag, added a label withe someone else's address on, and also cut the senders name and address on and stuck it to the new post bag. "How Bizarre", to quote a famous NZ song.

I was able to remove the sticker with the 'not my address' on it. It was then I could see that the NZ Post bag was NOT the original bag the dies had been sent in.

However, I was just happy to get my parcel. I have been in touch with the seller, and she is just as confused as to what happened as I am. I have yet to use the dies. 

So I am still here, I just have a lot going on  the moment and haven't done much crafting.

On top of the NZ Post issue, I got a note from my  bank saying someone had fraudulently tried to use my bank card, so the bank had put a top on my card. So I'm now waiting on a new card. More Lavinia Cards.

Oh my gosh! Today has been full of learning for me! So far I have taught myself how to use wireless transfer to get my photos from my mobile to my Chrome Book! I still have a few bits to sort out, but I am getting there! Wookie has just come inside and she thinks she is helping me! What she wants is food! She LOVES her food and I always have to hide Romeos dish of biscuits when she comes in because she will happily scoff the lot. She puts weight on easily and so she has a certain amount for food each day. 

On the first and last photo's, the white circles are done with a Lavinia sponge and I used white pan pastel for that. I really like stamping on black, and grey card stock. I think it looks dramatic. The grey card I used here is not quite dark enough for the white pan pastel to show up. Oh dear! I will have to go "shopping" for some darker grey card! 

The card with the 2 Magpies sitting in the flower pods are new stamps from a previous Lavinia release a few months back. I stamped on a piece of Scene-scapes pre - printed card stock. I really like that card stock and need to use it more, rather than have it in a drawer and admiring it! The last card who's some more of the latest LS stamps.The dress and top are 2 separate stamps, as is the Mannequin is also another stamp. I stamped the skirt and top then fussy cut them and then attached them over the Mannequin. Our weather here has been day after day of beautiful clear blue skies. But OMG the temperature really drops when the sun sets. When I got up at 7.30 this morning the temperature was 4c. It was 2.5 degrees overnight. That is COLD! I think that's around 36.5F. We don't get snow here where we live, but we do get the horrible cold temperatures. I was not impressed with that temperature this morning, and quickly turned the heat pump on! I heated the 2 heat pads for Romeo (Cats hate the cold)and they help with his pain from arthritis. He comes to bed with me at night, and has blankets over him as well as a heat pad he sleeps on. I know only too well what arthritis pain is like, and it is always worse in Winter. Having said how cold it was overnight and this morning, in all honesty this July has been very dry with hardly any rain. Very unusual as July is our wettest and coldest month. Gosh, I hope I haven't jinxed it?! They said the temperature overnight last night (2.5c) was the coldest it has been so far this Winter. I believe them!I always do a happy dance on 1st of August, knowing that I survived it, and that (slowly) warmer days are coming, lol!

Well it's just gone 5 pm and the sun has almost disappeared behind the hills. Time for me to close the curtains and doors and turn some heating on before I turn to ice! Thanks for dropping by! Lavinia Stamps - Loomweaver Collection.

These first two photo's are of the latest Lavinia Stamps - the Loomweaver's collection.  I finally discovered how to downloaded images from my mobile to my Chrome book! It has taken a lot of blood sweat and TEARS of frustration! Now I need to sort out how to enlarge the text - bear with me!

This Bear - "Ashryn" is from a previous range, also Lavinia. I'm going to  this and sort things out, so I will end this  short post here! Technology is fabulous - until you end up with a completely new device!!

The Dogs Rolled in Horse Poo!!

 

This is an older photo of me on "Buttons", at my sisters farm. We had the whole farm (60 acres) to ride over, which included a few streams. We used to take the farm dogs with us, and they loved swimming in the streams, and then rolled in horse poo which meant we had to hose them down when we got back to the farm house! Stinky dogs! Our horses used to like splashing in the streams as well. Lots of fun!

I'm on a Go Slow Mode!

I don't have any photos to post at the moment. 

I've had to replace my laptop and haven't down loaded any photo's on it  as yet. I've also had some annoying health issues that are taking a long time to go away:-(  I'm having some breathing difficulty which my GP thinks that having Covid may have affected my heart. I am waiting to see a Cardiologist at the local hospital. No idea how long before I can see him. I'm struggling with constant fatigue which has been stopping me from doing things such as crafting. Getting Ready!

I'm getting ready for my new stamps to arrive, and have stamped and fussy cut some Wings! I stamped them onto some Lavinia Stamps Dream-Scapes papers. These are a pad of gorgeous multi coloured  papers that can be stamped on. I have two different pads and it's hard to choose which sheet to use because they are all so pretty, and each sheet is double sided! Anyhow, here are the wings! The ones in the photo below measure 2 1/4 inches by just under half and inch at the widest part.

The wings in the photo below measure 2 inches by 1/4 of an inch. The smaller wings measure 1 1/2 by half an inch. I used a clear sparkly gel pen to add some sparkle to each of the wings. The natural colour of the Dream-Scapes papers shows on each wing. It's hard to see the sparkle in these photo's but it's there. Once I get the new stamps it will be awhile before I use the wings...but if you keep an eye on my blog you will eventually see how I use them. I will need to get 'creative!'

The wings stamps are not part of the new stamps, but they will be able to be used with them - you will see, trust me!

Another Mis Diagnosis!

Oh the joys of having a sore throat and head cold, and no immune system! I had been somewhat unwell for almost 3 weeks. Things eventually turned to custard and I eventually ended up in hospital. I'm home again and although I am now ok, I am very tired. While in hospital I was (once again) diagnosed with something I actually don't have! This is the 2nd time in two years I have been (wrongly) diagnosed with this issue. I won't go into detail, but I knew 100% the diagnosis was incorrect. I had all the ED Doctors coming into my room telling me I had to be urgently transferred to another hospital to have surgery. Knowing the diagnosis was wrong and having proof, I did my best to tell the Doctors/nurses they were incorrect. Oh boy! Have you ever tried telling a Doctor they are wrong?! They didn't appreciate my input at all, and refused to listen to me. I was harassed by them for several hours. I wasn't allowed to eat/drink. However, no-one stopped me eating lunch and having a cup of tea. (I was very dehydrated at this time, due to no-one coming to connect my IV line. I had let them know several times over 3 hours but nothing had been done. eventually I was whisked off to a Ward. It was a very strange Ward, one I hadn't been in before. My medications were taken off me, basically snatched from my hands without any explanation. I have always taken my own medications with me due to one of them not being easily available by the hospital. It's the one medication that keeps me alive. Without it I would die. It's a medication I must take regularly at specific times of the day/night. They Dr's know I always have my own medications, and I always let them know when I have taken them. I asked for my medications to please be returned to me as it was now 45 minutes past the time I was supposed to take them. I was stressed and frustrated and a bit panicky at the fact that I wasn't being heard. No-one was listening to me. No-one wanted to hear my explanation (and give them proof, of how I knew I didn't have what they diagnosed me with! Each time i tried to explain what I knew, I was told "well a SENIOR Radiologist had diagnosed me!) Well guess what?? He was WRONG!! Dead WRONG!! No, I am not a Dr and I have no medical diploma's or anything like that. (I have a degree in Psychology and that's all!) Eventually I'd had enough and told a different nurse that I was leaving and to return my medications. They were now due an hour ago. A doctor came and asked me do I know the consequences of my "mis diagnosis" and that I could become severely unwell and would need rushing to hospital for urgent surgery...etc etc. Yes, I was well aware of that, was  HE  aware that I had been mis-diagnosed and could he give me five minutes to explain why the diagnosis was incorrect?? Sadly he didn't have the time. I was becoming panicky because I felt like I had no control over what was happening to me. So I packed my bag, and once my medications were returned to me, I signed the papers, discharged myself and came home. I have nothing against Doctors/nurses, 99% of them are great, and I am very grateful to them for their help. It's just that I had proof that I had been misdiagnosed, and maybe they felt challenged by me disagreeing with them, I don't know. But what I do know is, I know my health issues VERY well. As Dr. Phil said, 'this ain't my first Rodeo!  'I've  been managing my health issues (and yes they are complicated)  for most of my life! What annoyed and frustrated me the most was, I HAD PROOF of the mis diagnosis! Just BTW the 2 Ambulance crew who whisked me off to hospital, asked me my age. I told them and said I'm having a 'Champagne and Donut themed 70th Birthday party, and invited them both to come! As it turns out, that day is their day off, so they said they will pop in! They were so nice and knew I needed to get to hospital that day to get things sorted out. And they had time to  give Romeo a pat and a cuddle, which he enjoyed! Anyway, I am managing a sore throat/Asthma at home. I'm slowly getting better day by day. I see my GP tomorrow just  to get a few things sorted out. I haven't done any crafting due to being unwell for awhile, but...I have some NEW Lavinia Stamps on their way, woohoo! A new release and I have to say, they are gorgeous! I am in love with  the oh-so-cute Raccoons! I wonder what interesting they are 'stitching' up?! (Subtle  clue there folks!) Ok, that's it for now! Thanks for dropping by! Have a SUNSHINE day! A Little Crafting and A Couple of Photos.

These are a couple of tags I stamped with my home made stamping tool seen in a previous post. I am waiting on a delivery of coloured tassels to arrive so I can attach them to each tag. I will use coloured thread/ribbon and then the tassel. This will be threaded through the punched hole. I bought the tags about 2 years ago, bought them home ad forgot about them until recently. I will also colour the stamped images. The cat and mouse images are both from AAL & CREATE stamp sets. The Cat set number it TP1405, and the mouse is from set number #11.

The photo of the Autumn (Fall) trees below is one  I took just on sunrise. The next photo is the same tree taken as the sun was setting. At sunset the tree literally glows, as you cab see. 

The tree now has no leaves at all, and when the sun hots it at the right time, it looks 'ghostly' with it's almost 'white' branches. This view is what I see from my kitchen window. It's a lovely view, and is forever changing as other tree's grow up and around it.

I've had a few health issues lately and haven't done a lot of crafting. In case I haven't mentioned it before,(lol) or maybe you are a new visitor to my blog - welcome if this is your first visit - I absolutely HATE Winter. We're only a few weeks in to Winter and I am over it already! We have had some absolutely stunningly sunny days with beautiful cloudless blue skies, but oh boy it has been cold. It was 6c when I got up this morning. It will get warmer as the day goes on, but I don't like the cold. So far we haven't had too many rainy days. Ok, that's it for this post. I Made A Mini Stamping Platform!

 I am getting bored not having my reading glasses, but I have not been idle! (Another 3 days to go until I  get them... Woohoo!) I wanted a small stamping platform and couldn't find one online here in NZ. Being in a small country at the bottom of the world means finding the craft items I want or need can be challenging. The only small 6x6 inch platform  I could find here in NZ was out of stock:-( Typical and so frustrating. So this is what I did...I found and empty DVD case.

Below, I cut 3 squares of fun foam to fit in the case.

Trim off any of the foam that is too big because you need to dvd case to close.

In the photo below you can see on the right is the tag I was stamping on to, and on the left hand side of the dvd case is the tiny mouse stamp I was stamping on to the tag. All I did was ink up the mouse stamp and close the lid, which then stamped the mouse on to that casts head. I took did use low tack tape to hold the tag in the right place but had removed it before I took this photo.  This size stamping platform works well and I had no issues with it. The DVD case I used measures 5 1/2 inches by 4 3/4 inch. Depending on the depth of the case, you could add more fun foam if you needed to, or if the case was very flat you may only need 1-2 pieces of foam.

Let me know if you tried this idea, and how it worked (or not). I have a Tim Holtz stamping platform, but it's much bigger and so takes up more room on my desk. K.Mart Aftercare.

My microwave recently conked out. Time for a new one, so I ordered it from K.Mart. Before I get into it, I apologize to anyone who may work at K.Mart. I love the place, but I don't love their aftercare. I also ordered a couple of other small items. So 3 days ago my order arrived just after 5 pm.  Two large very heavy looking boxes. "Wow" I thought, "there must be a lot of  packaging inside." One of the items was an Induction Plate. Upon opening one of the boxes I discovered there was 4 Induction Plates not one!

It was after 5 by now so no point trying to call K.Mart to sort out a return/refund as they close at 5 pm. So I have spent the 2 two days trying to sort it out. Unfortunately, no matter what I tried, I could only get and AI chatbot which didn't help at all. No matter what I did, or what phone number I rang, all I got was AI. Feeling soooo frustrated this morning, I called my local Citizens Advice for help. Eventually the lady was able to direct me to an email site where I could ask about a return/refund. I am partially sighted, which would be obvious if you met me. So I sent an email and explained I was partially sighted and told them my issue and asked how to return and get a refund for the 3 extra Induction Plates. I gave them my order number, my phone number and my email address. I am now waiting on a reply.

However, I am frustrated that the only "help" online is an AI chatbot, and there is no way to speak to a real live human being.  If I had a basic question the AI chatbot would have been fine. To not be able to speak with a real live person is not good enough K.Mart. I know AI is everywhere these days, but in this situation it's a waste of my time. Yes, I know it's my fault I ordered 4 of the Induction Plates, but K. Mart's  Aftercare is not up to standard. Ok, I've had my rant now! Thanks for dropping by! Have a SUNSHINE  day! I Know What I Said, But...

 I cannot sit and do nothing! Even without my reading glasses I just have to do something crafty! I have these two stamps which were mounted on wooden blocks.  They measure 4 /14 x 4 inches and were always hard to create a nice solid image. 

So I put the stamps (1 at a tine) in the microwave and nuked it for about 14 seconds. This was enough to soften the sticky stuff that held the rubber stamp on to the wooden block, and I was able to carefully peel the rubber stamp off the wooden block. Does that make sense?! 

I attached the images to some foam cushion read to use as cling stamps. I will use my stamp platform to stamp the images when I am ready. Once u had done that I put the wooden blocks back in the microwave for about 10 seconds and was able to remove the stickers with the pictures on. While the stickers of Minnie and Mickey Mouse were still sticky, I put them on to a sheet of clear window plastic and carefully cut around each picture. This means it will be easy to see where I want to stamp each image.  There will be no guessing and oping that I have the image in the right place. I bought these stamps when I was in Sydney one time. Now I just need to make a card using them! (When I  get my new reading glasses...)

I'll tell you a funny story about Mickey Mouse...when I was at Disneyland I had my photo taken standing next to Mickey Mouse. "Now is my chance", I thought...

So I asked Mickey Mouse to marry me! He put one hand over his mouth and the other hand on the  side of his face, and the girl taking the photo quickly said, "Oh he can't marry you, Minnie Mouse would be so upset"! So that was it, Mickey Mouse and I did not get married! But I did get some nice photo's of me standing beside Mickey! Thanks for dropping by! Have a SUNSHINE day! I Discover Simon Hurley Solar Paste!

 

I know I said i wasn't going to be posting anything for 2 weeks because I am waiting to get my new reading glasses but...I just had to post this! I embossed a piece of black card using one of my embossing folders. 

Then I used some Simon Hurley Solar Paste (Golden Hour is the colour) to 'colour in' the flowers/leaves. To apply the paste  I used a thing that looks like a paint brush, but instead of a brush it has a very small sponge tip. I also used Solar Paste in the colour of Cross My Heart, which is a pink colour. These are so shiny when they catch the light! I love them! You only need such a small amount as it goes a long way. I did all this before my glasses broke. I really can't see up close without them, and if only you could see how many mistakes I have made typing this! It's taking me ages to get this typed. I added a small bit of the Gold to the center of each flower. You really need to see it in the sun, it shines so nicely! To finish the card I will die cut a Butterfly to add on it. Frustrating!

Just letting you know I won't be posting anything for a couple of weeks. While I was in the shopping mall recently, I dropped my reading glasses. What I didn't know at the time was, one of the lenses had fallen out. Which means I can't read or do anenlarge stuff on here, whcih helps byI can thing that needs reading glasses. I have a new pair on order, but they won't be here for another 2 weeks. And yes, I am having trouble typing this! It's so frustrating because I have projects half finished, that I want to get done. I Made A Card!

Here's my firsts card I made using the embossing method I've been practicing for the last few days.  I lightly sprayed a piece of SU Soft Suede cardstock with some water. Once that was dry, I went and embossed it using a Lisa Horton embossing folder. (I can't remember what it's called.) I then used a Brilliance Moonlight White Archival Pigment ink pad to lightly 'tap' ink all over the raised embossed image. Then I sat the card in the sun for s short time to dry the ink. Once the ink was dry, I used some little 'sponge' brush things and added EYE SHADOWS - yes, eye shadows, to colour the images. Eye shadows are just miniature pan pastels and work really well on most cardstock, so I discovered! The green and yellow are both Pan Pastels. The pink/purple flowers have some glitter on because one of the eye shadows was glittery. I added the at and sentiment, and lastly added a few drops of white Nuvo Drops. Once those were dry I adhered the panel to a white folded card and it was done! I'm so happy how this turned out and will definitely be making some more using this method. I will try to capture another photo so you can see the sparkly bits.

Here's what I have learned about creating these types of cards.

1.Make sure you are using a well inked white ink pad, otherwise you don't get a good result.

2. Spray your cardstock with water before embossing. This will ensure you get a nice crisp, well defined image.

3. Use quality cardstock. I used Stampin' Up! cardstock for the embossing, and Neena for the white cardstock.

4. Don't be scared of experimenting with eye shadows for colouring!

4. Have fun and don't give up when things don't work.

There's probably more tips, but that's just a few off the top of my head.

I've Been Practicing!

 These are some of the results of trying to 'colour' embossed images. They are by no means perfect, I'm just experimenting. I have ordered some new embossing fodlers, which I hope arrive in a few days. I've been watching some videos by a lady called Jo Simons, who does a fabulous job colouring embossed images. I used a white ink pad (Hero Arts Unicorn White) on this, then a gold ink pad.

This is another attempt I did, once again using a white inkpad and then gold on top. I used a tapping motion to get the ink on to the embossed area, and I've used black cardstock on each sample. My white ink pad needs re inking so I get better coverage. As I said, these samples are just me playing around with the technique of colouring. I've used embossing ink pads so far.

Ooops! This photo is round the wrong way! I used  a white embossing pad first, then a green dye based one. The green one is brand new and very juicy. I've watched several of Jo Simons videos and she has a very relaxed way of demonstrating. I hope to improve my coloring, and actually make a card with my efforts! At the moment I'm just getting the feel of how to add colour to the embossed card. The most important thing is, I am having fun with it, and learning along the way. Before  forget thank you to Andrea B for your encouraging comments! I'm glad I'm not the only one who is challenged by some card making techniques! To be honest, I have always liked using embossing folders, but had never really been shown this colouring technique. Some of my ink pads need re inking, so I need to sort that out so I get better results.

I am still very fatigued and get tired easily. My walking is improving slowly. We've had some seriously cold days last week, down to 8c degrees in the morning, and my heating isn't working:-( Romeo is ok, he has a nice soft warm bed he climbs in to! That's him below! He has another bed the same, on my bed and he either sleeps on top of me, or in his bed at night!

Just Some Questions!

Over the years I've been crafting, I've collected different embossing folders. However when I use the I am not happy with the results. They emboss ok, it's just that I don't like how to that card looks, if you know what I mean? I need some help/advice/idea's on using them.

I would love to use them more so if anyone has any tips I would love to hear them! Or maybe you know of a website I could go to for some help. Just let me know in the comments!

My second question/dilemma is, using square or oblong dies to add pieces of DSP to my cards. Mine never look right. How do you get the card the right size to put the DSP on? Do you cut the DSP first, then cut the card to the right size? I see other peoples cards using DSP and it looks great. For some reason I have 'issues' getting the card the right size. Once again, if anyone has any ideas, feel free to let me know!

My third and final question is, embossing with embossing powder. I'd like to use my embossing powders more, but I'm not keen on the results I get.

Oh woe is me, what to do?! Those are issues I have with my crafting. I just need some guidance and some advice, so if anyone has any ideas, as I said, please message me and point me in the right direction!
