I saw a dietician last week about being Coeliac and eating gluten free. It was a very interesting hour and a half. Over the last four years my weight has been going steadily down. I thought it was because I was exercising more and eating well. Wrong! It's the Coeliac Disease doing it, it stops you getting the right amount of nourishment from any food you eat, good or bad food. I am at least 2 kgs under weight and am not getting enough protein or calories. This is because I can't afford the gf food. It is also why I am SO cold all the time.
So I now have protein shakes every day to boost my protein levels.
I made some gf bread the other day. Meltdown number two! OMG the bread tastes horrible:-( If I make a toasted sandwich it is slightly better. I'd much rather be stamping than thinking what can I eat that is gf?! BTW a loaf of gf bread costs $8.81 - can you see why I don't buy it?!
The dietician is applying for extra money for me each week so I can afford to buy the food I need. In the meantime I will carry on with my gf baking and hope for the best..taste, that is! I'll keep you posted on my successes, and disasters!
Poor lass, hope they get some better tasting stuff in your shops soon. xx
